HAIRPIN ARTS CENTER c/o Logan Square Chamber of Arts
Hairpin Arts Center offers arts and cultural programming year-round, sharing the mission of Logan Square Chamber of Arts. Now focused on live-streamed events due to Covid 19, Hairpin is currently making physical improvements, including sound system and lighting upgrades, in anticipation of the day when it can again be both a physical and spiritual hub for the Chicago arts community.
Established by Logan Square Chamber of Arts (LSCA) in 2011 in the historic landmark building known as the Hairpin Lofts, Hairpin Arts Center operates according to the following Guiding Principles:
Empower: In all activities, we seek to connect with Integrity, Intentionality, and Accessibility.
We provide a safe and welcoming platform for art to address the ever-changing issues of humanity.
Engage: We give voice to diversity of thought and expression across art forms and levels of experience.
We offer a forum for artists and community activists to come together around shared causes.
We honor the history, present needs, and future goals of the neighborhood surrounding Hairpin.
Transform: We promote ongoing, respectful dialog and shared understanding.
We foster objective and caring criticism, a positive role for art in civic life.
We unify and strengthen communities by shining art’s light on injustice to inspire change.
To empower, engage and transform our communities through the arts.
Just like our founding body, Logan Square Chamber of Arts, we strive founded to establish sustainable partnerships with artists and arts organizations of various disciplines, and to assist in the production and presentation of their work by providing space, resources and time.
Proposals for future Hairpin Arts Center programming are welcome for review by Logan Square Chamber of Arts. In addition, once large gatherings are safe, Hairpin will again be available to rent for arts-related activities, performances, and social events.
Logan Square Chamber of Arts is the first Chamber of Arts to be created in the city of Chicago, founded to establish sustainable partnerships with artists and arts organizations of various disciplines, and to assist in the production and presentation of their work by providing space, resources and time. Established as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit in 2009, LSCA’s mission is to empower, engage, and transform our communities through the arts.
Hairpin Arts Center is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
